Tombola Of Fun

Show 2: 19/11/2008

Hello gang,

You’re all invited to the “difficult second” Tombola of Fun on Wednesday 19th November at 8pm (that’s 30 minutes earlier than last month fact fans) at The Star public house in Archway/Tufnell Park. Doors open 7:30pm. This month’s vague theme is Walt Disney.

Also this month: The return of last months’ (s)hit “controversial” game show “Better or Worse” and an actual proper Tombola. Plus a selection of these top comedians:
a) Nick Helm is a comedian, actor, writer, play write, singer-songwriter, Gentleman, scholar and acrobat. Which means as well as making you laugh he can also knock you up a musical, which he did to some acclaim for this years’ Edinburgh Festival. In my books this makes him an almost perfect Tombola of Fun guest.

b) James Acaster is a terrific, imaginative comedian, tuned into the comic potential of any given situation. Ideas fall off him like marbles, immediately moving on to the next inspired segue. Ideas that lesser comedians like myself would try to extend and cultivate into longer, tedious pieces of material are rolled off as if they were nothing.

c) Asli Akbay has a breathless, manic energy mixed with great observational eyes and ears for the minutiae of life, creating storms-in-teacups by treating the ordinary like the most exceptional things in the world.

d) Brett Goldstein is an actor, writer and brilliant stand up. He’s been a finalist and semi finalist in every major comedy competition and continues to go from strength to strength. Like all of these comics, Brett’s comedy seems to be constantly evolving, and improving with each gig I see.

All this and much, much more that I’ve not thought of yet for just five Earth pounds.
Show starts at 8pm (Doors 7:30pm), but if you get there early you’ll be treated to a selection of my favourite Disney and showbiz related tunes.

Heigh-ho,
Nat
