I am currently reading It’s Not a Runner Bean by Mark Steel. I can’t remember who recommended this to me but it’s great so far. It’s basically a chronicle of his stand up career told in short funny bursts each lasting just a few pages each. It reads almost like a collection of newspaper columns which is obviously something he’s suited to writing. The book isn’t strictly chronological, but each story cleverly leads on to the next, He also cleverly gives the the reader the socio-political context of each story which only adds to your enjoyment and understanding of them. Recommended.
