I took time out from Ha Bloody Ha to read Decadence #7, which is a self-published sci-fi comics anthology. I read it primarily because it featured my pal Jon Chandler in it, but it also features Leon Sadler of Famicon fame, and a bunch of other cartoonists. I recognised Lando and Tsemberlidas‘ work from other Decadence releases, and although I always admired it, the quality of it really comes through in the reading. All of the stories in the anthology have a 1970s movie sci-fi feel (2001: A Space Odyssey, Silent Running type of thing) mixed with Alejandro Jodorowsky‘s work. Tsemberlidas’ story was probably my favourite, and was told completely in silence. His artwork is remaniscent of (Jodorowsky Collaborator) Moebius, but also comic artists like Travis Charest and Geof Darrow, but still very much its own style (see the cover above). I think he’s an artist we’ll be hearing from again. I highly recommend it. Decadence #7 can be found here or bought from here.
