I’ve had a couple of other suggestions for my “films about comedy” from a couple of pals.

Annie Hall (1977)
Ellen Lindner suggested Annie Hall. A good choice. Woody Allen plays the comedian Alvey Singer. A great choice, although it is more of a film about he and Annie Hall as it is about comedy, but it still gets a pass from me on sheer quality.

The Sunshine Boys (1975)
Martin Croser suggested this Neil Simon written movie starring George Burns and Walter Matthau as a Vaudeville double-act who reunite for a TV special despite hating each others guts. Check out its wonderful Al Hirschfeld poster below.
