Baby, It’s Cold Outside by Dean Martin

Baby, It’s Cold Outside (1959) by Dean Martin is another Christmas song favourite of mine. I file it under the category of Christmas song despite not mentioning Christmas once, only that it’s a bit cold. It’s also one of my favourite Dean Martin songs, period. It plays up on his persona so well. The song it’s self was written by Frank Loesser (who also wrote the score for Guys and Dolls) in 1944, and was recorded by many other artists before Martin, including Sammy Davis Jr. in 1957.

I’m a big fan of Martin. I like Martin and Lewis, I like his songs, and I love the Matt Helm movies.

I woke up this morning to see the cast of the West End show Christmas With The Rat Pack (including a Dino impersonator) being interviewed on Breakfast News. I must say they really do all look a lot like there famous counterparts, but only if you look at them through tracing paper.

Baby, It’s Cold Outside by Dean Martin is available on various Dean Martin Christmas albums that are all basically the same record with different titles. I have it on the album Making Spirits Bright, which like Santa’s Got a Brand New Bag, I chose pretty much because it has the best title.

Dino died on Christmas Day 1995.

Merry Christmas.
